iPhone owners on the T-Mobile network who would like to upgrade their devices to the upcoming iPhone 6s can do so for as low as a $5 monthly charge, T-Mobile CEO John Legere announced through a Twitter post.
The trade-in offer, which is a part of the JUMP! On Demand initiative by T-Mobile, allows iPhone 6 owners to trade in their device for the iPhone 6s for as low as $5 per month. Owners of the iPhone 5s can also choose to trade in their device under the offer, with the monthly charge for upgrading to the iPhone 6s as low as $10.
The exact amount to be paid as a monthly fee will range from $5 to $15, depending on the model of the iPhone 6s being purchased and the model of the older iPhone being traded in for the offer.
Legere also said that the offer can also be extended to customers who have already preordered the iPhone 6s with a specified trade-in.
This offer by T-Mobile for the iPhone 6s appears to be one of the more competitive deals on the market right now, with the decision to put such a discount on Apple's new smartphone not a surprising move for the Un-carrier as it aggressively pushes to increase its customer base.
For users who do not want to trade in their old iPhone, T-Mobile also has another promotion under JUMP! that offers customers the 16GB iPhone 6s for a monthly fee of $20 for 18 months without having to pay anything upfront. Customers can then pay an additional charge of $164 at the end of the 18 months to be able to keep the device for a total cost of $524, representing savings of $125 to the original price of the iPhone 6s.
The iPhone 6s, which will be launched for sale by T-Mobile on Sept. 25, will be able to support the Extended Range LTE of T-Mobile on the 700MHz spectrum.
