Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have been on preorder for a while now, and a new report gives insight into which models are selling best. The report indicates the rose gold models from Verizon and AT&T are tops so far at Best Buy.
An analysis was done for the five-day period between Sept. 16 and Sept. 20, on preorders of the new Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus from Best Buy. The data indicates that by far, the new rose gold color option was the most popular, with the 64 GB Verizon Wireless 6s model in that color topping the list. The same 64 GB Verizon iPhone in space gray came second, with the rose gold AT&T 6s coming in third. The Verizon versions of the 6s in rose gold in the other available storage configurations, 16 GB and 128 GB, rounded out the top five.
The first iPhone 6s Plus model to make the list is the 128 GB space gray AT&T model at number six, while the rose gold color 6s Plus with 128 GB came in eighth, also on AT&T. Those were the only placements for the iPhone 6s Plus in the top 10 list. This indicates that, although the larger-sized 6s Plus phablets are gaining fans, the regular-sized iPhone 6s is still more popular. The reported Apple sellout of all iPhone 6s Plus models on preorder and the resulting three to four week expected wait time, has left fans wondering just how popular the larger size is as opposed to Apple simply not manufacturing enough of the larger model to meet demand, and the new data gives us some idea.
Also interesting is the fact that about half of all orders for the new iPhones are in the 64 GB storage configurations, with 40 percent going for the larger 128 GB. That means only 10 percent of orders were for 16 GB models. It appears that iPhone 6s Plus users are more likely to go for the biggest storage option, however, as the two Plus models in the top 10 are both 128 GB versions.
Best Buy offers models for Verizon, AT&T and Sprint but has not opened up preorders for the Sprint models as of yet.
