Wait a minute, is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice a sequel to Man of Steel or what? First, actor Henry Cavill claims that it isn't. Now, director Zack Snyder is saying that it is.
In an interview with Canoe, Snyder claimed that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is in some ways a sequel to Man of Steel. We can somehow see why he would say this because it is a continuation of the Man of Steel story.
"I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2," the filmmaker told Canoe. "Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It'd be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be."
Yes, this film will showcase the likes of Wonder Woman and Batman, but that doesn't mean the story will drift far from the destruction of Metropolis. Furthermore, some fans might argue this because Snyder, at one point in a recent interview, stated that Batman will have more screen time than Superman.
Clearly, there will be several mini stories that will be told inside the main plot, but at the end of the day, there will be a proper Man of Steel 2 in the future, though at this point we can't say what the plot will be.
Some folks have claimed that Brainiac will make an appearance along with others, but for now those are just wild rumors. It would be great to see the two aliens going head to head and causing mayhem in the metro. In all honesty, we'd prefer if Brainiac were brought in as a villain in Justice League rather than Man of Steel 2. Superman has several villains whom he could face off against by his lonesome, so the writers should focus on them.
As for what Zack Snyder had to say about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice being Man of Steel 2, we are still going to view it as its own thing.
