There's no denying Marc Gasol's plethora of footwork and low-post moves in being arguably the best big man in the NBA.
Gasol's 17.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per contest as an All-Star Game starting center last season helped NBA 2K16 make the decision to name the Memphis Grizzlies' 7-1, 265-pound big man as the best center on its Top 10 Centers rankings, released Monday (September 21).
Gasol earned an 87 player rating, as did Sacramento Kings' fellow All-Star DeMarcus Cousins, with Houston Rockets' Dwight Howard (85), Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan (84) and Orlando Magic's Nikola Vucevic (83) rounding out the first five.
Tech Times has agreed with No. 1 selection in all of NBA 2K's player position ranking reveals up until this point...but Cousins should have been ranked higher than Gasol and with a better rating, one of at least 90. Cousins' numbers flat out jump off the page at 24.1 points, 12.7 boards and 1.7 blocks per game. Yes, Gasol's Grizzlies are a perennial playoff contender, unlike Boogie's Kings, but Cousins' booming game is just hard to overlook at this point.
Other than that, Tech Times doesn't have much of an issue with NBA 2K's player ratings for the five spot. The video-game developer is scheduled to release its overall Top 10 Players rankings Tuesday (September 22).
