It's a popular trend in modern gaming to re-release "Definitive" or "Ultimate" editions of older titles, packed with DLC, multiple games and running at a higher frame rate on newer hardware.
If a recent retailer leak turns out to be true, 2K's Bioshock series may soon be arriving on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the form of The Bioshock Collection.
South African retailer Raru shared details of the collection over the weekend, but the page was quickly taken down. Note before savvy gamers captured screenshots of the page in question, however.
Even with the screenshot, there aren't many details to go on. The page states The Bioshock Collection will be available on both current-gen consoles and listsa release date of Nov. 27, 2015.
The page makes no mention of what games or DLC comes included with the collection, but it seems safe to assume the title would include Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and the various DLC packs for each game. 2K has previously released Bioshock: Ultimate Rapture Edition which includes Bioshock and Bioshock 2, but this would be the first time Bioshock Infinite has been bundled with the earlier entries in the franchise.
2K, for what it's worth, isn't saying much. When asked for comment by IGN, a spokesperson for the publisher replied with a standard "2K doesn't respond to rumours or speculation" response.
Probably best to take this with a grain of salt until it's official, but a Bioshock Collection certainly makes sense. It was one of the biggest original franchises of the last console generation, so of course 2K would want to jump on the "remastering" band-wagon and bring the title to current generation hardware. The only question now is when.
