We've seen teasers. We've seen clip after clip. We've heard from producers and stars. And now, season 2 of Gotham is less than one week away.
The latest trailer features no actual footage from the show. It's a concept piece that zooms around a sculpture depicting several Gotham villains in action. Layered over the visuals is what sounds like characters speaking lines from the new season, particularly Robin Lord Taylor's Penguin. (If Penguin actually says, "Welcome to the rise of the villains," it's going to be an awfully cheesy moment.)
The villains featured in the promo include Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler and one or two others. But they're hardly the only Batman bad guys appearing on the show this season.
Barbara Kean seems to be turning into a villain in this interpretation of the Batman myth. The story of Joker's rise has been promised by the producers, which is probably the story of Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan). Mr. Freeze is expected to put in an appearance. And then there's Theo Galavan (James Frain) — a major new player in town who could turn out to be a very young Ra's al Ghul.
Take a look at the stylish new trailer below.
Gotham returns on Monday, Sept. 21.
