Toshiba has announced a new two-in-one called Satellite Click 10, touted by the company as being 30 percent smaller and 50 percent lighter than a "traditional" laptop.
Apart from being smaller and lighter, the new device is also significantly cheaper than other, similar products. It costs $349, a lot less than the $499 that you would pay for the Surface Pro 3, which doesn't even come with a keyboard.
"We've created a highly portable, versatile PC that can move easily from laptop productivity to tablet fun," said Toshiba America's senior director of product marketing, Philip Osako, in a statement. "With a stunning Full HD display that easily detaches as a tablet, plus exclusive features that enhance the Windows 10 experience, this device is perfect for someone always on the go."
As far as design goes, the Satellite Click 10 is similar to some of the other Satellite devices, offering a detachable keyboard, two USB slots, a mini-HDMI slot, a microSD card slot and a headphone jack. With the keyboard, the device is only 0.36 inches thick and comes in at only 2.2 pounds in weight, which is similar to that of the Surface Pro 3 with its keyboard.
The Satellite Click 10 is powered by an Intel Atom X5 processor, along with 2 GB of RAM and an option for either 32 GB or 64 GB of on-board storage. It also has an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing one.
The device was designed specifically with Windows 10 in mind and comes with a few features designed to enhance the Windows 10 experience. For example, it comes with multi-directional microphones, which should help with voice recognition for Cortana and will of course also help when it comes to things like Skype. The Satellite Click 10 also comes with the full Office suite of apps pre-installed.
The Satellite Click 10 is available from the Toshiba website starting today, with the 32 GB version costing $349 and the 64 GB costing $369.
