Gwenpool Gets Her Own Special Christmas Comic

Gwen Stacey just won't go away, it seems: not only is she now a version of Spider-Man known as Spider-Gwen, but she now has merged with the "merc with a mouth" Deadpool to become Gwenpool.

This is not a joke, though: Marvel seriously plans on releasing a Gwenpool comic this holiday season. Gwenpool will get her own Christmas special, Gwenpool Special #1, and if successful, it's likely we won't have heard the last of her.

Gwenpool started out as a variant cover earlier this year for Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars #2. Marvel did a series of covers to celebrate the character of Gwen Stacey, and, apparently, the character stuck with them.

For starters, Gwenpool gets her own special backup story in Howard the Duck #1-3, beginning in November, written by Christopher Hastings with art by Danilo Beyruth.

"A stranger in a strange land, she'll enlist the aid of someone who knows a thing or two about being from an alternate universe — Howard the Duck!" writes Marvel in a press release. "Now birds of a feather, the Marvelous Mallard is about to show Gwenpool the ins and outs of her new home — the All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe!"

Then, in December, Gwenpool Special #1 hits store shelves. The special features a myriad of Marvel writers and artists — including Gerry Duggan, Charles Soule, Christopher Hastings and Langdon Foss, as well as combines heroes from "across the Marvel universe." In the comic, She-Hulk invites everyone to a holiday party, and one of those guests is Gwenpool, who is smart and charming and "can shoot and stab her way through a gaggle of Hydra goons."

"Your eyes do NOT deceive you, True Believer," writes Marvel. "She's real, and she's making landfall in the Marvel Universe this November! Introducing ... GWENPOOL!"

Howard The Duck #1 hits stores in November with Gwenpool Special #1 arriving the following month, in December.
