While BLU is certainly not the first brand that comes to mind when customers are looking for a new smartphone, the BLU Pure XL smartphone is definitely a viable option among the unlocked smartphones being released into the market.
The device will be sold exclusively on online retail giant Amazon as an unlocked device with 4G LTE support all over the United States on AT&T and T-Mobile.
The BLU Pure XL is on the same playing field as other unlocked "affordable premium" smartphones, such as the OnePlus 2 and Motorola Moto X Pure Edition. These devices are cheaper alternatives to flagship devices of bigger brands such as Apple's iPhone 6 and Samsung's Galaxy S6.
At a price of $349, the BLU Pure XL costs about half of what you would pay for one of Apple's or Samsung's offerings. However, the low price combines with the device's impressive specs to present a possible contender in the industry.
"The BLU Pure XL is an industry flagship in every sense of the word, competing with any of the top tier devices available in the world today," said BLU products CEO Samuel Ohev-Zion.
Ohev-Zion added that it will be difficult for users to find better technology in a smartphone in the industry, especially with the inclusion of the MediaTek Helio X10 processor.
The BLU Pure XL packs a 6.0-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and a 3,500 mAh battery with quick charge functions, along with being the first smartphone in the U.S. to use the premium 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 2.0GHz Octa-core processor.
According to BLU, AnTuTu scores on the BLU Pure XL range in the 49,000, which lands it among the top smartphones currently on the market.
The performance is made possible by MediaTek's CorePilot 2.0, which is an advanced power resource management technology that maximizes the performance of the smartphone.
The BLU Pure XL also features a 24MP rear-facing camera that comes with features such as a second-generation optical image stabilization system, real-time HDR and 4K Ultra HD video recording. The smartphone also features an 8MP front-facing camera.
The BLU Pure XL also features 3GB of RAM with 64GB of internal memory, dual stereo speakers and a fingerprint scanner within a solid aluminum metal body. The smartphone will also ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The smartphone will launch on Sept. 29 and is available in gray and gold color options.
