Late last month, Japanese wrestling superstar Kana made a surprise appearance at the WWE's NXT Takeover: Brooklyn card at the Barclays Center in New York, seated next to Hall-of-Famers Ric Flair and Sgt. Slaughter.
Looking back, it was a foreshadowing clue that she'd be joining the WWE. On Tuesday, September 8, the WWE officially announced the signing of Kanako Urai to NXT. She'll report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando later this month.
"We are very excited to have Kana join the NXT roster," said Triple H, the WWE's executive vice president of talent, creative and live events, in a press release. "Her exciting in-ring style will make an immediate impact on the already impressive NXT women's division."
Triple H also tweeted about Kana's signing with the WWE.
Kana wrestled in Japan for 11 years, appearing in many organizations and holding multiple championships as one of the most exciting women to ever step foot in the squared circle. A look at this footage shows Kana's extensive wrestling skills.
It will be interesting to see if Kana can quickly rise in NXT and make a splash on the main roster much as the likes of Kevin Owens and Neville have. With moves like these, it's a big possibility.
