Universal Skype Beta Is Now Available To All Windows 10 Mobile Preview Users

Windows 10 Mobile preview users can now lay their hands on the beta version of the Skype Messaging app from the Windows Store.

Windows 10 Mobile Insiders will be able to check out the Universal Skype Messaging app as it is available for download. However, since this is a beta version, and Microsoft has not announced the same officially, one needs to hurry before the link gets pulled up.

The app can be downloaded from this link and is not listed on the Windows Store, so a search for the same will not throw up anything. For those wondering what the new Skype Messaging app brings users' way - gear up for a new user interface which bears a semblance to the Messaging app for Windows 10 Mobile.

The new app brings a cohesive experience and is able to send SMS', as well as brings separated Video and Messaging apps for preview build users of Windows 10 Mobile.

"Skype Messaging, Calling and Video 'Preview' is a new way to experience Skype features. It integrates individual Skype features where you'd expect them - Skype messaging into Messaging and Skype calling into Phone apps for the fastest way to make calls and send messages." notes the app's description.

It is anticipated that Microsoft will eventually use the Universal Skype Messaging app to replace the built-in default Messages app on Windows Mobile 10, as having two similar apps is quite confusing and unnecessary.

The app weighs between 23.31 MB to 24.7 MB. The features the Skype Messaging app - which has been interestingly labeled Messaging Skype app by Microsoft - brings are as follows: video calling, messaging, audio calling, emoticons, sign-in with a user's Microsoft account, integrated conversation history for SMS and Skype messaging, and phone calls and calls made via Skype.

Considering Microsoft is yet to announce the beta's availability officially, we can only wonder when the Skype Messaging will go live. For now, the app seems to be finding favor with Windows 10 Mobile preview Insiders as it has already gotten over 100 reviews with the rating of 5 stars being the most common.
