New Moto 360 vs. Moto 360 Sport: What's The Difference Between These Motorola Smartwatches

Motorola unveiled the second generation of its Moto 360 smartwatch, which now comes in three distinct versions. These are the men's version, which will comes in two sizes, the women's version, and the Moto 360 Sport.

The new Moto 360 addresses several complaints against its predecessor, with one of the solutions being the decision to release different sizes for the smartwatch. In addition, the smartwatch will have a bezel that is much thinner compared to the first Moto 360, leading to easier swapping of bands.

Motorola decided to focus on customization for the second-generation Moto 360, with the Moto 360 Sport as an option for active users. What exactly does the sports-geared version offer in addition to the regular specifications of the Moto 360?

Watch Face and Strap

The Moto 360 will come in 46 millimeter and 42 millimeter versions for the men's version, and a 42 millimeter but with narrower, 16 millimeter strap mounts for the women's version.

The Moto 360 Sport is based on the 42 millimeter version of the Moto 360, but instead of leather and steel, the Moto 360 Sport will feature a rubbery and exercise-friendly material with a fixed silicone strap.

Features

The new Moto 360 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, which should improve the battery life and performance of the devices compared to their predecessor. According to Motorola, the 46 millimeter version of the Moto 360 will go for two days in between charges, while the 42 millimeter version can be expected to last for around a day and a half.

The Moto 360 Sport will presumably carry the same specifications, albeit with additional features to make it more focused for active users. The smartwatch comes with built-in GPS to be able to accurately log how many miles its user may have run, along with Motorola's AnyLight hybrid display that makes it easier for users to read the Moto 360 Sport's screen outside in direct sunlight.

Software

Both the Moto 360 and Moto 360 Sport will be powered by the latest version of Google's mobile operating system for wearable devices, Android Wear, which is now also compatible with iOS devices in addition to Android smartphones.

Motorola still has not divulged all the details for the Moto 360 Sport though, despite the Moto 360 already now available for pre-orders in the United States. The company did say, however, that the pre-orders for the Moto 360 Sport will launch soon.
