Motorola is rolling out a Moto 360 software update that brings some new features and also fixes for some bugs.
Motorola launched the Moto 360 smartwatch in March 2014, and the wearable made its way to the shelves in September 2014. The Moto 360 is compatible with devices running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher. At launch, the smartwatch came running on Android Wear 4.4 and has been updated to Android Wear 5.1.1.
On Wednesday, Aug. 26, the wearable received an Android Wear update, which brings a number of changes to the device. Moto 360 owners will get interactive watch faces, making it simpler to be connected. A single tap on the watch face can change the design, launch an app or reveal additional information.
Interactive watch faces can be downloaded from the Play Store.
The latest update also brings the "Together watch face" feature that allows a couple of Android Wear owners to share stuff like emojis, photos and more. Users will have to pair up with a friend to enable the feature.
After the update, Moto 360 users also get Google Translate for Wear. The feature allows for the translation of conversations in many languages.
"Translate a conversation into any of the 44 available languages, then flip your wrist to show the translation to someone else. When they respond in their own language, flip your wrist back, and you'll see in a translation of what they've just said," said the Moto 360 release notes.
Also, with the new Weather Microapp, Moto 360 users can get info on weather conditions as well as weather forecast for the set location in the smartwatch.
The latest update also improves privacy for notifications. A notification will not show up in full screen unless the smartwatch is oriented in a way which allows only the user to see it. The latest feature prevents people around a user to read an incoming notification when the Moto 360 is pointed in other directions.
The software update also brings stability and performance improvements to the Moto 360.
Motorola confirms that the latest update will be rolling out to Moto 360 users in phases in the coming few days. Users will get a notification when they receive the software update.
To install the software update, the Moto 360 should be connected to a paired smartphone, which must be connected to the Internet. The smartwatch's battery should be at 80 percent or higher to successfully install the update.
Motorola also notes that once the new software is installed, users cannot downgrade to a previous software version.
