Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of The Sims 4, which was released on September 2, 2014. Time just seems to fly when you're nurturing Cow Plants, partying with ghosts and making some life-changing ice cream, doesn't it?
In case all the memories you've made so far with The Sims 4 aren't enough to make you all warm and fuzzy inside, Electronic Arts released some stats about the game's first year on its website Wednesday. Displayed in a nifty infographic format, this data reveals some surprising facts about the way the world plays The Sims 4.
The Sims 4 players seemed to have love on the brain big time this past year. Being romantic was the most popular trait among the 92.8 million Sims created, with 7.4 percent of them feeling the love. There were also way more marriages than divorces in the game: 27.5 million of them, compared with 1.7 million splits, which is a divorce rate of 6 percent — much lower than the 40 to 50 percent of couples that divorce in the U.S. Sims also "woohoo'd" (the game's polite way of saying "had sex") 235 million times and tried for babies (i.e. tried to get pregnant) 165 million times.
Though nothing beats the release of a brand-spanking-new game, The Sims 4 won't be slowing down in its second year. The game's second expansion pack, Get Together, will be released this November, and there will probably be many more Stuff and Game Packs in the near future, too. Hopefully all of that comes sooner rather than later — because clearly, the world has a lot of Simming to do.
