Nike's Therma-Sphere Max Gear Boasts Thermoregulating Technology For Cold Weather Training

It's not easy training in frigid conditions ... even for world-class athletes.

Well, Nike hopes to change that feeling with its new Therma-Sphere Max gear, which introduces thermoregulating composite technology designed for cold-weather training.

"When an athlete trains in cold temperatures without appropriate apparel, the body strives harder to maintain thermal balance, which impairs performance," Barry Spiering, the Director of Applied Apparel Research for the Nike Explore Team Sport Research Lab, said as part of the company's press release. "The goal of our research team is to provide scientific insights to the apparel development team so they can create innovative solutions that help athlete performance, perception and protection."

The whole idea behind the gear is to allow athletes to only be concerned with their performance rather than thermoregulation, which is the body's way of keeping its internal temperature leveled during harsh weather conditions. Athletes frequently layer up in the cold, but that can lead to overheating. Too few layers can result in athletes being too cold.

Nike's new Therma-Sphere Max gear claims to be revolutionary in finding the right balance to ensure wearers are warm and dry when temperatures dip.

The Swoosh has even tabbed New York Giants star wide receiver Victor Cruz to be the face of the new line.

"Weather is a huge factor," Cruz says in a Nike Training video for the new line. "You don't want your mind to be occupied with the cold or whatever the conditions are. You want to make sure that you're comfortable ... being able to go out there, putting on what you're going to put on and not even thinking about it. You know you can go out there and be your normal self and be ready to go."

This gear should come in handy, especially when the winter hits. It should be popular, especially among NFL players.
