Heat's Owner Gauging Fans' Interest In Miami Vice Alternate Jerseys

Micky Arison has got to be one of the better team owners in all of professional sports.

Upon spotting a fan's mockup of Miami Heat alternate jerseys using the fluorescent colors of the 1980s crime drama television series, Miami Vice, the Heat owner took it to his own Instagram account Thursday (August 27) to ask the team's fans if they'd like to see an actual Miami Vice-inspired alternate jersey.

Arison refers to Adidas because it's the official apparel supplier of the NBA for two more seasons, until Nike takes over with the 2017-18 season as the first of its eight-year, $1 billion apparel partnership with the league.

While the colors of these alternate-pitched jerseys are gaudy, they do speak to a segment of South Beach, Miami nightlife that might resonate with Heat fans, not to mention the city's residents who were fans of Miami Vice, which ran from 1984 to 1989 and starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as undercover Miami-Dade Police Department officers.

Arison spotted the jersey mockup off the Instagram account, @_heatupdates_, which obtained the fan-made design and blasted it out to its 51,000-plus followers. Pretty cool of Arison to do. How many other professional sports team owners would do such a thing?

Tech Times is sure NBA fans' eyes could bear to see this alternate jersey on the court a few times this season or next. At least, Heat star Dwyane Wade is pulling it off in this rendering.
