The Forza Motorsport 6 demo release is free and can be downloaded by any Xbox One owner, publisher Microsoft Studios noted on its Xbox news page. The 12.67-GB demo version will include a selection of cars and tracks from the 460 cars and 26 tracks that will available in the official release.
The press release also noted that new features like night racing and cloud-powered Drivatar opponents are available in the demo. It also highlighted what the developer considers the game's "genre-defining car handling and physics." Also included are Rivals events in which a player can challenge another in hot lap races.
The new Ford GT is also included for free in the demo build. In an interview with Gamespot during E3 2015, Dan Greenawalt, creative director at Turn 10, said, "Car manufacturers want to tap into the car passion in gamers. We're their best conduits, now they come to us ... McLaren, Ford. And Ford was actually giving us insider information from the very beginning."
"Very few people at Ford knew this car was being built," he added.
Perhaps the biggest bonus in the Forza Motorsport 6 demo is the Forza Fuel Challenge. The event began Sept. 1, when the demo was released, and is livestreaming on the Forza Twitch channel. Three drivers from the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany or France will be sponsored by Xbox to go on an all-expense paid trip to Circuit of the Americas, a 3.427-mile racing circuit near Austin, Texas, where the selected participants can experience the "ultimate" Forza challenge. Two individuals who have clocked the fastest laps will be selected, while the third one will be filled by a wild card, which will be chosen at random. But, players must first complete the Forza Motorsport 6 demo experience before they can play the Forza Fuel Rivals challenge in an attempt to qualify.
Several motoring show celebrities, including James May and Richard Hammond, former Top Gear presenters, and professional drivers have done voice-over work for the 1080p / 60fps Xbox One exclusive that will be launched on Sept. 15 for the U.S. and on Sept. 18 for Europe.
However, those that own the Forza 6 Ultimate Edition, which is currently listed at £81.99 pounds or $125 USD, will be able to access the game on Sept.10, five days ahead of everyone else. Aside from the early access, Forza Motorsport 6 VIP, Car Pass, the Mazda MX-5 and the Ten Year Anniversary car pack are also included in the Ultimate Edition. Together with the Deluxe Edition, Ultimate Edition owners will also get the "Fast & Furious" Car Pack, which includes 10 of the featured cars in the movie. The mentioned packs can individually be purchased.
