Racing games are a blast, and can be incredibly impressive when the controller is in the hands of an experienced player. Gamers who've driven virtual cars for years can do some amazing things.
At first watch, you probably think that the video you're about to see contains footage of exactly that. Some amazing player is doing crazy tricks on a customized map — tricks that require unbelievably perfect timing, which this gamer manages to nail again and again — for almost six minutes! Flips, twists, spins, rolls... The crazy stuff just keeps coming in one endless stream. The car's pretty banged up by the end, but it survives and leaves viewers in awe of the driver's mad skills.
But looks can be deceiving.
Made with the editor included in Trackmania 2 and uploaded to YouTube by a user named "Marzeline," this is an example of something called a push forward track. It's a track made specifically to cause these kinds of car tricks automatically. All the player has to do is start moving the car forward. The track's physics take it from there.
Knowing what causes those tricks to work makes the video no less impressive. It might be even more so, knowing that someone took the time to build this track and play it little-by-little, over and over again, adding new pieces after perfecting the last.
Marzeline's video was uploaded to YouTube almost two years ago, but it continues to bring in new viewers. It's currently racing up the trending topics list on Reddit.
