Images of the Huawei Nexus 6 case have leaked on Twitter showing that the upcoming smartphone will include a fingerprint scanner and a protruded camera.
Google normally launches a new Nexus smartphone each year. However, this year, the company is expected to unveil two handsets: the Nexus 5 (2015) made by LG and the Nexus 6 (2015) made by Huawei.
Various specs and purported images of the upcoming Nexus handsets have been doing the rounds in the tech press. The Nexus 5 (2015) is believed to feature average specs, while the Nexus 6 (2015) is estimated to get top-notch specs.
On Monday, Aug. 31, a few images of the purported Nexus 6 (2015) case leaked on Twitter to give a glimpse of what the handset could look like.
The leaked image shows a transparent Nexus 6 case that can hold in a big phone. Previous rumors have indicated that the Nexus 6 (2015) will sport a 5.7-inch Quad HD display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution. The screen size is slightly smaller in comparison to the original Nexus 6, which boasts a massive 5.96-inch screen with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution.
Previous rumors have claimed that the upper back portion of the handset will protrude and have a camera and flash. The leaked images of the Nexus 6 (2015) shell show a hump at the upper back of the case to accommodate these.
Many smartphone lovers may not like the protruded camera on the Nexus 6 (2015). However, the phone is expected to be equipped with a 21MP rear-facing camera, which may make customers forget about the ugly hump.
The case also has a small hole at the back, which points at the possibility of the Nexus 6 (2015) including a fingerprint scanner.
The images of the case do not reveal more about the Nexus 6 (2015), but speculations are high that the handset will come running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and will include a 3,500mAh battery. Nexus devices are the first to get the latest Android operating system, which means that the Nexus 6 (2015) and Nexus 5 (2015) will be the first mobile phones to come running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow straight out of the box.
Google has confirmed neither the existence of the handsets nor the launch date. However, speculations are rife that the Nexus 5 (2015) and Nexus 6 (2015) will be unveiled on Sept. 29.
