The highly-awaited LG Nexus 5 2015 will not sport a quad HD display, per new rumors.
The name of the next Nexus flagship is not yet confirmed, but it is widely referred to as the Nexus 5 2015. Rumors of the upcoming smartphone have been surfacing for many months. Now, a tipster has leaked a new list of specs of the purported new Nexus 5.
An Android Police report cites a "reliable source" who claims that the next Nexus flagship handset will sport a 5.2-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Per previous rumors, the mobile phone is expected to have a 5.2-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution.
Majority of the rumors for the Nexus 5 2015 have pointed to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM that may power the next Nexus phone.
The Android Police report suggests that the Nexus 5 2015 will be equipped with a 12.3MP primary camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. A 2,700mAh battery is estimated to fuel the smartphone. Previous speculations suggest that the Nexus 5 2015 will get a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 3,000mAh battery, but a smaller battery makes sense if the screen resolution is only 1080p.
Rumors are also doing the rounds that the Nexus 5 2015 will be available with 16GB and 32GB on-board storage.
It is highly likely that the Nexus 5 2015 will be one of the first mobile devices to come running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Given the leaked specs, the Nexus 5 2015 may just be an average phone and may not attract customers searching for a top-end phone. Nexus handsets have attracted smartphone lovers with its top-end specs and competitive price tag, at least until the $600 Nexus 6 was launched. Many smartphone customers waiting for the Nexus 5 2015 will certainly be disappointed if the latest specs of the handsets are legit.
Google launched the original Nexus 5 in October 2013, which made its way to the store shelves the following month. Similarly, the Nexus 6 was launched in October 2014 and the handset started shipping in November of the same year.
If similar schedules are followed for the next-generation Nexus 5, then the handset will be launched in October and released in November this year.
