The Nexus 5 2015 is so hotly rumored right now that it hardly seems impossible not to believe that a Nexus 5 reboot is ready for unveiling sometime this fall, but while we have seen quite a number of live photos and video renders of the device, little has been said about what its specs will be like.
That, however, is about to change, as a supply-side source has posted on Chinese microblogging website Weibo the full list of specifications for the new Nexus 5 being made by LG.
The list, which was first spotted by G for Games, allegedly comes from the same source who supplied synthetic benchmark results for the NVIDIA Denver 2, the Exynos M1 and Apple's A9 and A9X chipsets, if any of that accounts for the source's credibility. Nonetheless, as these are still rumors not confirmed by Google or LG, it is always best to take them with a grain of salt.
With that out of the way, let's get to the reported specs. According to the source, the LG Nexus 5 will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808, a hexa-core chipset that has an Adreno 418 GPU. This will be paired with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM that will likely give the new Nexus 5 performance that is at par with other flagship devices.
Display-wise, the phone will reportedly sport a 5.2-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels and a whopping pixel density of 565 ppi. The display is only a bit larger than the 5 inches of the original Nexus 5, but the resolution has received a massive boost from the Full HD display of the first device.
Interestingly, the rear camera is touted to have the same quality as the camera on the LG G4. The leak says it will be a 13MP shooter with a Sony IMX278 RGBW Exmor RS Sensor and optical image stabilization, laser autofocus and better image quality than the rear camera on the Huawei Nexus also rumored to be in the works. This will reportedly be paired with a 5MP front-facing shooter.
The specs list says it is for "July's Nexus 5," suggesting they were taken from sample devices in July. Although this specific source does not mention other features, previous reports and leaked images have purported that the LG Nexus 5 2015 will have a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel and a USB Type-C connector. Steve Hemmerstoffer, also known by his Twitter handle @OnLeaks, says the device will also allegedly feature a premium metal body, more than 3,000mAh of battery and front-facing speakers.
The pair of Nexus devices said to be manufactured by LG and Huawei are expected to be launched sometime this fall. Both devices, of course, will bear the banner for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google's latest version of its mobile operating system.
