GoPro has allowed adventurous videography enthusiasts to capture content from interesting vantage points on land, sea and snow. Going back to edit that footage, however, might be as painful as watching the playback of themselves crashing from their surfboard and getting swallowed up by a wave.
But now, GoPro is making it even easier for users to quickly (and painlessly) edit and share their videos, with the release of a new feature for its app and Wi-Fi enabled HERO cameras.
The new "Trim and Share" feature enables users to create short video clips right from their mobile device or camera, which can then be shared effortlessly. After capturing the content, the user just has to tap the Trim icon while in playback mode to select a 5-, 15- or 30-second clip from the recorded video. The short clip is then saved and can be shared without having to transfer the entire file.
Along with trimming and sharing instantly through the app, those with GoPro's HERO4 Black with LCD BacPac, HERO4 Silver and HERO+ LCD devices now have on-camera trimming capabilities. This means that users can save the trimmed file right onto their memory card, alongside the rest of the video files they may want to further edit and share.
Previously, if a GoPro user recorded a moment worth sharing while running, biking, suffering, etc. they would have to first upload the entire video, find the desired clip and edit it, before sharing it on social media. The new Trim and Share feature saves the time that would go to editing on a computer — allowing virtual-worthy videos to be shared in just a few taps.
Make sure to download the latest software update for the GoPro camera, as well as the free app for iOS and Android to use this new feature. Check out the new Trim-and-Share in the video below.
