T-Mobile Wants BlackBerry Users To Come Back To The Un-Carrier

T-Mobile is now running a new campaign in the U.S., aiming to convince more BlackBerry users to come to its network.

BlackBerry and T-Mobile have had somewhat of a rocky relationship when it comes to their partnership in the U.S., but the two companies have worked it out and put aside their differences.

The new campaign further proves the resolution of an older dispute between BlackBerry and T-Mobile, after the two companies severed their ties last year. Back in February 2014, T-Mobile started a campaign encouraging users to ditch their BlackBerry devices in favor of an iPhone. BlackBerry was not so happy about that, and its response already spelled trouble for the business relationship the two companies had going on.

Two months later, in April 2014, BlackBerry officially announced that it was severing ties with T-Mobile because their strategies were no longer "complementary." BlackBerry decided to stop selling its devices through T-Mobile, but did note that a collaboration was still desirable, should their strategies align again in the future.

T-Mobile and BlackBerry found a way to re-align their strategies in the meantime, renewing their partnership in the U.S. In the latest evidence of this rekindled partnership, T-Mobile has now kicked off a new marketing campaign — and this time, it's not to BlackBerry's detriment.

Simply put, since T-Mobile and BlackBerry are friends again, the Un-carrier wants BlackBerry users to know that they are more than welcome to join its network. A new campaign touts how easy it is to bring a BlackBerry smartphone to T-Mobile's network and enjoy a slew of benefits.

"A simple switch of your SIM card could get you on the fastest nationwide 4G LTE network," states T-Mobile.

In the fine print, the Un-carrier also lists the prerequisites for bringing your BlackBerry device to its network, but they're just the standard requirements for joining a carrier with a device of your own.

More specifically, T-Mobile requires interested BlackBerry customers to choose a qualifying plan, get a T-Mobile SIM card and have an unlocked BlackBerry device that is compatible with its network. At the same time, the carrier also points out the obvious: users will need a 4G-capable smartphone if they want to enjoy the fast 4G LTE speeds T-Mobile has to offer.
