Here's Nolan North's Version of Ghost In 'Destiny'

Goodbye, Dinklebot. Hello... "Northbot"? (Somebody hop on Reddit and see if that's a thing.)

If you're a Destiny player, then you've probably already heard that Peter Dinklage's voiceover work as your A.I. companion Ghost is being redone by prolific video game voice actor Nolan North. The change is expected to take effect when the third expansion pack, The Taken King, is released on September 15.

Conspiracy theorists were quick to point to a vocal faction that was unimpressed with Dinklage's work on the game, feeling that he phoned in his performance. (Others saw nothing wrong with his portrayal.) But Bungie was quick to clarify that it was simple logistics that forced it to recast the role.

Put simply, Dinklage's existing acting commitments (such as to a certain hit HBO show) made him unavailable to record more dialogue for Destiny. So rather than having two different voices for the same character, Bungie opted to re-record all of Ghost's dialogue with Nolan North, who will provide his voice going forward.

Since the announcement was made, fans have been eager to hear what North's performance would sound like. The popular actor has voiced the likes of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series and Desmond Miles in Assassin's Creed, in addition to many, many others. If anyone could satisfy those cranky Dinklebot haters, it would be Nolan North.

Now you can judge for yourself. A new video promoting an upcoming Twitch reveal related to The Taken King has just gone online, and it contains the very first footage of Nolan as Ghost's new voice.

What do you think? It's just two lines of dialogue, so it's hard to get a solid bead on it. But North obviously isn't trying to do an impression of Peter Dinklage, which is a good thing, as his voice is so well known. That said, North's inflections and personality do sound pretty similar to what Dinklage did.
