Just as Gears of War: Ultimate Edition arrives on Xbox One, Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski is set to unveil more details about his new free-to-play first-person shooter.
It will be his first new game project since Gears of War 3 back in 2011. Bleszinski and his new game studio, Boss Key, recently launched a mysterious new teaser website called "The Shattering." The site features concept art for Boss Key's first, as of yet unnamed game, which depicts a cityscape destroyed by forces unknown. Bleszinkski has previously said the game will be a sci-fi shooter but won't be "post-apocalyptic."
Prominently displayed on the front page of the website is a countdown clock. More details look to be arriving tomorrow, followed by yet another reveal on Wednesday. The site asks fans to share the first teaser clip and to "remember that good things come to those who share."
It doesn't appear that "The Shattering" is the name of the new game but rather an event, according to Blesinzski's reaction on Twitter to an article claiming otherwise. That too will likely be revealed in the next two days.
The title will be released with the help of Nexon America, who is no stranger to the realm of free-to-play with titles like Combat Arms and Maple Story. As of now, it sounds like Bleszinki's latest will only be available for PC, but expect more details soon.
You can register for the site now to receive game updates and newsletters. Judging from the teaser site, it looks like the game will be be undergoing some form of alpha test in the near future as well.
