There have been several rumors out there that claim Jared Leto's take on The Joker is actually none other than Jason Todd gone rogue. It's quite ridiculous to think this could be true, so let's talk about why it isn't.
DC has made a lot of changes to its comic book stories over the years: some accepted by the fans, others looked down upon but not completely rejected. Should Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder decide to go down this route of transforming Jason Todd into The Joker, it is going to be a complete disaster.
Fans are going to riot. Some might even go as far as to boycott the DC Extended Universe entirely. This is something neither Warner Bros. nor DC wants to happen and, as such, this crazy idea will never happen.
We also have to look at the Robin suit in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer. Why would Jason Todd burn his own suit and put bullet holes in the left and right shoulders, among other things? It makes no sense.
Now, someone could have done all that damage to Todd, but if it isn't The Joker, then who would have done him so bad that he ends up turning into the Crown Prince of Crime?
Let's face it, boys and girls: this is a stupid rumor that needs to come to an end soon. We doubt the Warner Bros. and DC team would be so foolish to go down this route.
The Joker needs to be The Joker. Jason Todd should be the Robin in the trailer; he needs to be the person The Joker had beaten to a pulp and left for dead. We need this for a potential Red Hood-based Batman movie in the years to come.
We see no reason why Warner Bros. would want to bypass a Batman: The Red Hood storyline because it is so rich and interesting. Plus, we've never seen the Red Hood on the big screen before, so now would be a great time.
