More of the Marvel Universe will be making its way to the small screen with the conirmation that ABC has finally officially ordered a pilot episode for what was originally pegged as an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off series. The new show is currently being called, Marvel's Most Wanted.
The on again-off again plans for the spinoff series are once again back in full swing. When plans for the spinoff were first announced in April and then scrapped, everyone had though that the show would never see the light of day by May. But with this official confirmation from ABC, we have hope that the spin-off will be picked up once the pilot is produced. The new show will center around Mockingbird, played by Adrianne Palicki, who was also a featured character of SHIELD. Lance Hunter, played by Nic Blood will also be joining her on the new show as well.
According to Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski, the producers of SHIELD who will now also co-create Marvel's Most Wanted, as well and take on the role of showrunners, the new Marvel based television series will not be a spin-off in the traditional sense of the word but rather a completely new series to have a chance to continue and delve deeper into the story arcs of both Mockingbird and Hunter.
Although they will be certainly be missed on SHIELD, in fact, early talks of the spinoff had producers saying they didn't to break up the dynamic and team chemistry that was going on at SHIELD, we can't wait to see what Bell and Zbyszewski come up with for the two characters for their own show on Marvel's Most Wanted.
Although there are no further details about the ordered pilot, including its expected airing schedute, have been settled yet, Agents of SHIELD in the mean time keeps pushing forward with all new episodes when the third season begins on ABC on Sept. 23.
