'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice': General Zod With Flipper Hands

Michael Shannon is expected to return in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as General Zod. We know the character died in Man of Steel in the hands of Superman, so what is happening here?

According to what the actor had to say to Vulture, it appears as if General Zod will return not as himself, but as something else, or someone else.

Shannon claimed that while on set, he was wearing flippers of some sort. This doesn't give much away, but it proves that Lex Luthor will indeed experiment on Zod's body.

"I was in my costume, and I couldn't use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands," Shannon said. "So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn't open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the BvS director] being like, 'Where's Shannon?'"

Apparently, because of the suit he was placed in, Shannon was stuck and had to shout for help with opening the door.

In the first full-length Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, we get to see General Zod in a metal coffin, and then after that, in a body bag. Mercy Graves, Lex Luthor's secretary and trusted bodyguard, was right there as well, proving that Luthor is up to no good where Zod's body is concerned.

Surprisingly enough, Shannon has stated that up to this day, he has not viewed the trailer, so he has no idea what he looks like in the film.

He said, "I could be a toaster, or a Porsche, I don't know."

The popular opinion being thrown around right now is that Lex Luthor will transform General Zod into Doomsday. Some have gone on to say that he might become Metallo, but that doesn't make much sense since Metallo is half-human and half-machine powered by Kryptonite.

We could also say Zod's body might be used to create Bizarro, but that wouldn't explain the flippers. Bizarro is a weird-looking creature designed from the DNA of Superman. Despite that, he still seems mainly human, so right now it appears as if Doomsday is the only way to go.
