'Fear The Walking Dead' Will Have A Patient Zero, But Will We Find Out How She Became A Zombie?

By now you've probably heard about Fear the Walking Dead, the companion series to AMC's hit zombie apocalypse drama The Walking Dead, based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman. Fear the Walking Dead takes place in the same universe as but before The Walking Dead begins, right when the zombie plague starts in Los Angeles.

All diseases have a patient zero, even ones featured in a fictional TV show. Now we finally may know who started all the trouble we've seen thrust upon Rick Grimes and company on The Walking Dead for nearly six seasons.

That person is a character named Gloria, who you may have seen in trailers and other promotional material for Fear the Walking Dead previously released by AMC. The show will introduce Gloria as the world's very first zombie in the series premiere, according to a recent interview with the actress who portrays the character, Lexi Johnson, published on ComicBook.com.

In the episode, we'll apparently see Gloria chowing down on someone's face, as we've grown accustomed to seeing on The Walking Dead. Other than that, there aren't a ton of details available about the character. Johnson told ComicBook.com that she didn't know if Gloria would be featured in future episodes of Fear the Walking Dead, although she also said she hopes that we'll get to see the character before she became a zombie as well.

However, Johnson might not get her wish. Fear the Walking Dead showrunner Dave Erickson said that the origin of the zombie apocalypse will not be explained on the show in an interview with TheWrap last month.

Johnson's IMDb page only lists her as appearing as Gloria in the pilot episode of Fear the Walking Dead, so it's possible she won't last long on the show. That unfortunately comes with the territory of being a patient zero.
