If you've ever wondered what a city looks like before, during and after the zombie apocalypse, the new teaser trailer for AMC's upcoming series Fear The Walking Dead could offer some grim insight.
In the new Fear the Walking Dead trailer, we see the city of Los Angeles change as zombies start taking over. The trailer features time-lapse photography of Los Angeles as its lights slowly dim and go out, eventually showing the city burning.
Of course, this doesn't tell us much about AMC's new series, which is a spin-off of The Walking Dead, but it does set the "slow-burn" tone, mood and setting for the show.
Here's what little we know of the Fear The Walking Dead series so far: it's separate from The Walking Dead and there probably won't ever be any crossover events that combine both shows. Fear The Walking Dead features all-new characters and events: a group that comes together via a high school somewhere in the Los Angeles area.
AMC has released photos from the new series, but that's as much as they're giving away, keeping the series' plot under wraps until its debut. The first set of photos don't feature zombies, hinting that the series is about the early days of the zombie apocalypse.
Newer photos released by AMC also confirm this timeline, showing zombies in their states before their bodies begin decomposing.
The show will also move at a slower pace than its parent show, The Walking Dead.
"There will be a build," said showrunner Dave Erickson at the Television Critics Association press tour. "We will get to a place over the course of the season where we will see elements of the original show sort of thread in throughout our story. But it is by design. We tried to slow burn the story - make it as much about the anxiety and tension and paranoia that goes with this outbreak as much as it is about the actual confrontations with zombies."
We'll know more about Fear The Walking Dead when the series premieres on August 23 on AMC.
