Sprint is reportedly planning to offer interesting deals for the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus by Samsung, with Android news website Android Central acquiring information about a possible trade-in offer for the devices.
According to an anonymous source, Sprint is planning a promotion that will provide customers with savings of up to $200 if they trade in a working smartphone to acquire either the Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
In addition, customers that avail of the planned trade-in offer along with a new two-year contract with the carrier will also be receiving another Samsung device, the Galaxy Tab 4, for free.
Another important piece of information that Android Central acquired was that the promotional trade-in offer would expire on Aug. 27. Sprint would have to offer the promotion for a considerable amount of time, which means that customers should expect Sprint to begin selling the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus very soon.
Samsung is expected to officially launch the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus at its Unpacked event in New York on Aug. 13. Prior to the highly-anticipated announcement, rumors and leaks regarding the two devices have been bountiful.
One of the latest rumors regarding the two smartphones, which was posted by prolific leaker Evan Blass on his evleaks Twitter account, claims that they will both be powered by 3,000 mAh batteries, which falls in line with previous rumors. This would mean that the Galaxy Note 5 will have a smaller battery that the Galaxy Note 4, while the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will have a bigger battery compared to the Galaxy S6 Edge.
In addition, Blass noted that the battery of the two devices will last for up to 336 hours of standby or up to 21 hours of talk time.
A retail store employee that was able to get his hands on the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus posted some quick takeaways on online forum Reddit, stating that the Galaxy Note 5 felt better while held in his hand due to the tapered back of the device. The Redditor also gave high praise to the displays of the two devices, with the user saying that the curved Super AMOLED screen of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus looked especially great.
The user also confirmed that the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will not have removable batteries nor a microSD card slot.
