The 'Star Wars: Rogue One' Set Is Crawling With Stormtroopers

If there's one movie left this year that has absolutely everyone excited, it's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. For the first time in a decade, fans are returning to a galaxy far, far away — and even better, the film looks great so far, with director J.J. Abrams bringing back both practical effects and the Original Trilogy's cast.

And it doesn't stop there: while Star Wars is no stranger to spin-offs in comics and novels, the first film in the Star Wars Anthology series is currently in production. Star Wars: Rogue One tells the story of the Rebel Spies who stole the Death Star plans before the events of Episode IV, something never seen in the movies. Of course, considering that the film takes place before the events of the Original Trilogy, it makes sense that the look and feel of Rogue One would match its place in the timeline.

The latest batch of set photos seems to confirm this: while they're not necessarily the highest-quality pictures out there, the new pictures do confirm that classic Stormtroopers will make a return.

Aside from the Imperial troopers, the photos don't reveal all that much. The only recognizable piece of the set is something that looks like an Imperial shuttle's landing ramp, though it seems as if the rest of the set is either missing or will be added in via CG. It also looks like the scene will take place in the middle of the desert, but for Star Wars, that's not exactly a shocking revelation.

Even if the rest of the photos aren't exactly mind-blowing, it's great to see that Rogue One will return to the classic Stormtrooper look. Granted, none of the troopers in the shot have their helmets on, but if you look closely, the armor matches that of the troopers from Episode IV rather than the updated look of Episode VII.

Things are starting to pick up for Star Wars fans: Episode VII: The Force Awakens hits theaters this December, while Star Wars: Rogue One will make its debut next year.
