A new report claims that Verizon will be adding the 10.1-inch waterproof and dust-resistant Sony Xperia Z2 tablet to its lineup just in time for summer.
Sony has been focusing on getting back to its glory days when the company was king of the consumer electronics space. Sony was known for its attention to detail when it came to the electronic devices people used on a daily basis from the Walkman to its televisions. In many ways Sony was viewed as the Apple of the '80s and '90s. Before Apple was charging a premium on its computers, MP3 players, smartphones and tablets, Sony was also factoring in design and user experience that it could get consumers to pay for over its competitors. The company lost its way with consumers for a time but has been applying the same logic it used back in the day to make consumers want a Sony device over the Samsung's and LG's of today.
A new tweet from the always-reliable evleaks says that the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet is headed to Verizon. The carrier seems to have noticed Sony's shift in the mobile world and will soon be adding the waterproof and dust-resistant Xperia Z2 to its tablet lineup.
Sony's Xperia Z2 tablet highlights the company's focus on design and user experience. The Xperia Z2 is built using a premium aluminum skeleton frame along with the company's Omnibalance technology, which allows for a strong, thin and very light tablet. It's also boasting a gorgeous 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 Full HD TRILUMINOS Display for mobile that provides razor sharp quality and accurate colors from all different angles.
It's packing a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 330 GPU (graphics processing unit) and 3GB of RAM to keep things running fast and smooth. Its camera capabilities consist of an 8.1-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS for mobile image sensor and 2.1-megapixel front facing camera. As previously mentioned, the Xperia Z2 is both IP55 and IP58 certified to be waterproof and dust-resistant and can be used in up to 1.5m underwater.
The tipster hasn't revealed when Verizon will begin offering the Xperia Z2 tablet but it shouldn't be long considering its waterproof body is one of its main highlights. We'll be sure to keep you posted.
