Vega is a classic Street Fighter character. From his mask to his signature claw, he stands out among the crowd of fictional martial artists (and the occasional green monster man) who make up the majority of the Street Fighter roster.
It's good news, then, that Capcom has just revealed that Vega will be joining the upcoming Street Fighter V — but this isn't the Vega you remember.
Not only is the character sporting a brand-new look, he will also be playable with two different fighting styles: claw or no-claw.
In previous Street Fighter titles, Vega's claw gave him extra reach on attacks and more damage. An opponent could, however, knock off Vega's claw with successive blows — which would then require Vega to walk over the claw in order to pick it back up. In Street Fighter V, claw and no-claw will be two distinct methods of combat. Fighting with no-claw grants Vega additional command grab attacks and new attack properties. It sounds like players will be able to swap between claw and no-claw mid-fight, opening up a dizzying number of combo combinations.
The character's new ultimate attack is the "Bloody Kiss." As described by Capcom:
"Vega's powerful V-Trigger is the Bloody Kiss, which sees him throw a rose at high velocity towards his opponent, before he charges at full speed right behind it, delivering a series of brutal attacks."
You can watch Vega in action below, as he goes toe-to-toe with the new Street Fighter character, Necalli.
Street Fighter V is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC in March of 2016. So far, the game's beta has been mired with problems. Originally set to end on July 28, the beta has been extended due to prolonged periods of downtime.
