Brave Wave Production is bringing back the sounds of our favorite video games by remastering and re-releasing their original soundtracks in a new project called "Generation Series."
Directed and supervised by Mohammed Taher and Marco Guardia, the Generation Series will feature collector's editions of legendary video game soundtracks, some of which were previously unreleased, incomplete, hard to find, out of print, and not previously released — now with the best sound quality.
Brave Wave will work with original license holders, including the composers and sound teams, to restore and remaster the soundtracks. Along with the tracks to our favorite video games, the physical copies of the soundtracks will also include interviews, art booklets and other extras.
And now the label has announced that the first in the Generation Series will be the remastered version of the Street Fighter II Official Arcade Soundtrack.
Brave Wave has partnered with Capcom to make the classic arcade game come back to life. Approved by its original composer Yoko Shimomura, the remastered soundtrack will include both the CPS-1 and CPS-2 version of the game, taken directly from the arcade boards.
Those who buy a physical copy will receive a double album with notes by Shimomura and Polygon.com writer Matt Leone.
The best part of this announcement is that Street Fighter fans can purchase a limited-edition vinyl copy of the soundtrack. The team has cautiously remastered the soundtrack on translucent colored vinyl, with graphic prints that come right from Capcom's archive.
There is no release date as of yet for the Street Fighter II soundtrack.
