Server issues have been frustrating Xbox Live users on their Xbox One and Xbox 360 gaming consoles, with Microsoft confirming that both the online network and Xbox.com are currently experiencing issues in their servers.
Numerous reports have been coming in regarding different problems that users are encountering with Xbox Live, including problems with signing into the service and the inability of users to see which of their friends are also online.
Users can stay updated with the status of the gaming network through the status page of Xbox Live. According to the status page, the Xbox Live team is working with its partner to determine a solution to the ongoing issues being reported by users. As of 7:30 p.m. PDT, the Xbox Live services that are listed as having limited functionality are as follows: purchase and content usage; social and gaming; TV, music and video; and the IGNL Xbox 360 app. For purchase and content usage, the listed affected services are purchasing downloadable items and downloading items that have already been purchased. For social and gaming, the listed affected service is unlocking achievements. For TV, music and video, the listed affected service is browsing on the Xbox Video Store and Xbox Music Store. Xbox Live Core Services and the website of the service are listed as up and running, which should mean that the service should have been restored or is well on its way to going back to normal for Xbox Live users.
The news was tweeted by Xbox Support at around 3:00 p.m. PDT, but users have continued to report log-in issues and as such, the problem seems to be not yet entirely fixed. In addition, there are still reports coming in of users not being able to access their digital games. However, the Xbox Live status page does not list this issue despite the many reports coming from frustrated users of not being able to access their games and sign on to Xbox Live.
