The first official trailer for Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 has finally arrived, and it certainly does not disappoint.
Jennifer Lawrence reprises her epochal role as Katniss Everdeen, the tribute-turned-District 13 rebel who finds herself the leader of a revolution at the precipice of a New World Order. Likewise returning are Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) and Liam Hemsworth (Gale) as her rebels-in-arms and romantic rivals. The film also features Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, among others. Most notably, the film will mark Philip Seymour Hoffman's final appearance on the silver screen after his death in 2014.
Mockingjay 2, a Lions Gate Entertainment production, will be released in theaters this November.
Here is the official abridged synopsis:
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 now brings the franchise to its powerful final chapter in which Katniss Everdeen realizes the stakes are no longer just for survival — they are for the future. With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale, Finnick and Peeta – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem, and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 76th Hunger Games.
