Moto G 3rd Gen (2015) Images And Specs Leaked By Retailer Days Before Official Launch

Motorola is holding a media event on July 28, where it's widely expected to launch new smartphones. A Swiss retailer has jumped the gun and posted images and specs of those unannounced devices, the Moto G (3rd gen).

Motorola's existence in the smartphone world has seen its shares of ups and downs. The company famously known for its iconic RAZR flip phone, which became an enormous hit thanks to its ultra thin aluminum build and attention to design. The company tried to repeat the RAZR's success in the smartphone arena but was never able to recapture its glory days. Things looked up when Google acquired the company for $12.5 billion in 2011, which was believed to allow the Android OS maker to better compete with rivals like Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy smartphones and phablets.

Google eventually gave up on its Motorola ambitions and sold the company for a loss to Lenovo for $3 billion in 2014. All the while, Motorola has continued to pump out some popular smartphones. Its exclusive Droid lineup with Verizon has been lucrative, and Google chose the company to build its flagship Nexus phablet. Now, the company is preparing to launch new smartphones on July 28.

The new Moto X is rumored to launch in a 5.2-inch and 5.7-inch model and carry impressive specs like a quad-HD display, 4 GB of RAM and 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

Motorola is also expected to unveil the Moto G 3rd gen (2015), the followup to one of its best-selling smartphones. A Swiss retailer has posted images and specs of the new Moto G ahead of Motorola's press event. According to the listing, which has since been removed, the Moto G will boast a 5-inch 1080p display, 2 GB of RAM, 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 processor and 8 GB of internal storage and microSD expansion slot.

We'll keep you updated on any new information regarding Motorola's July 28 press event.
