LG preps Lifeband Touch and Heart Rate earphones: What you should know

In an age where wearable electronics are becoming the next hot thing among tech and fitness enthusiasts, LG is launching two new products. This May 18, LG's Heart Rate earphones and Lifeband Touch will be available for purchase.

These two LG wearables were unveiled at CES earlier this year and made an interesting impression.

The Lifeband Touch is a smart activity tracker and wristband that also works with heart rate monitors and smartphones. When a smartphone is plugged into it, the wristband is able to transmit data to an app called LG Fitness, as well as to other third-party apps.

The wristband activity tracker also comes with an OLED display. From this display, users can see the time, biometrics, incoming calls and even control musical tracks. Users can even swipe their finger on the display to get key performance indicators - such as distance ran, speed as well as calories burnt.

It also comes packed with two sensors. These sensors include a triple-axis accelerometer and an altimeter. The accelerometer altimeter measures the runner's performance and data.

LG will even have heart rate monitor earphones available for athletes soon that will be able to track a user's heart rate in real time. The earphones also will have the ability to wirelessly link to the LG Lifeband Touch and be integrated with the technology.

It seems that the author of the Apple hoax regarding the biometric earpods Apple was said to be working on was on the right track in terms of ideas. Instead of Apple, it is LG that runs with the idea of producing headphones or wearable gadgets that offer biometrics for athletes. Maybe Apple will reconsider and make the product into a reality after all? If not, at least we have LG to the rescue for us runners and fitness gurus.

Both Android and iOS devices will be supported when the Lifeband Touch and Heart Rate earphones hit the market come May 18. You can currently pre-order the pair of devices at Best Buy. The Lifeband Touch will set you back $150 and the Heart Rate earphones will set you back $180.
