With the film currently in production, X-Men fans still have to wait some time before seeing the next installment of the franchise. But that hasn't stopped director Bryan Singer from revealing some details about what's happening on set.
In an interview with Yahoo! to promote the Rogue Cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Singer hinted that fans will see more comic-accurate costumes in X-Men: Apocalypse.
The suggestion that they will stay true to how they appear in the comics means the costumes will feature more color.
"The X-Men are sort of a fighting team, so it was always an attempt at being realistic to have them in fighting uniforms, flight suits, things like that," Singer said.
"In X-Men: First Class, which I produced and wrote the story for, we hark back to the original colors of the original costumes from the 1963 comics. I will say that in X-Men: Apocalypse, there is a chance – without giving anything away – that you may get closer to seeing what I think, Mr. X-Men News, you are interested in seeing. I know it's something that I've been interested in, I just always wanted to do it the right way."
Singer revealed other details about the film, saying that fans will enjoy meeting the younger versions of the characters in X-Men: Apocalypse, such as Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), and Storm (Alexandra Shipp). But expect the villainous Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) to make the biggest impact.
"Apocalypse is a pretty cool character. X-Men is always centered around the fight between mutants and humans. This one is a bit different, it deals with the concept of ancient mutantism, gods and men. It deals with issues that are global," Singer said. "Apocalypse makes no distinction between humans and mutants, only between the weak and the strong. He as a character is what is so ultimately compelling."
The director also promised that the fans will get to see images and treatment of the superhero powers like never before, with intense action-packed scenes.
The X-Men: Apocalypse leading cast includes Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Nicholas Hoult as Beast. Other reoccurring roles include Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Lucas Till as Havok.
X-Men: Apocalypse is currently in production in Montreal, and will hit theaters May 27, 2016.
