Verizon LG G3 Receives Software Update. Nope, Sorry, It's Not Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

Some good news and not-so-good news for owners of the LG G3 on Verizon. On the one hand, congratulations! You're getting an over-the-air update for your device, something many hope will bring some nifty new functionalities. The downside: you still won't be getting fixes to the phone's issues with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The update does add some options for LG's notification system, a Bluetooth button and new HD voice settings that should significantly improve voice call quality.

The performance issues that riddled the phone immediately since it received the Android 5.0 update back in April, however, went unaddressed in this update, which users were anticipating would put an end to their problems.

Sadly, their hopes were dashed. But hey, you can now use LG's own style of notifications instead of Android 5.0 Lollipop's native and confusing priority notifications menu.

According to reports, some critics view this update as a failure because it does not address the Android 5.0 issues that rendered use of the LG G3 frustrating and almost inoperable for many Verizon subscribers. With other companies already shipping out phones with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop built-in, many are wondering when Verizon's LG G3 will finally catch up.

However, not all is lost for LG G3 users. The update still gives you some upgrades to your software.

"According to the release notes and changelog the Verizon LG G3 update brings a new Bluetooth button for in-calls for easy switching between car Bluetooth and regular headset, native Android 5.0 Lollipop do-not-disturb interruption settings, improved quick settings, and advanced calling (HD calling) for improved sound while talking on the phone," described Gotta Be Mobile.
