ZTE has launched its ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector for Verizon, which will cost $599 without contract.
The ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector debuted at the CES 2015 and the Android-powered projector was soon made available for AT&T network users. This time, Verizon will also be offering the portable smart projector.
"We are excited the Spro 2 will be available for consumers and business professionals looking for the latest stand-out device that will make life and work more efficient," said Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA. "Accessing and projecting content will feel that much more seamless and convenient with Verizon's most reliable 4G LTE network."
While AT&T is offering the ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector for $499.99 without a contract, the Verizon offer is $100 more expensive. Alternatively, those eyeing the ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector on contract from AT&T need to shell out $399.99 for two years. The Verizon model will cost $499 on a two-year contract. Why the Verizon model is more expensive is not clear, but perhaps access to the carrier's LTE network could be the reason.
Weighing 20 ounces, the ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector boasts a 5-inch 720p LCD screen. The projector houses a Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.0 Ghz, 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics. The device also packs in a powerful 6,300 mAh battery, which is capable of going on for 16 hours on a single charge. The projector offers support for Bluetooth, microSD card and HDMI so you can project and access any virtual content. The ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector comes with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
The device also offers a mobile hotspot where up to 10 devices can connect to Verizon's network. The ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector is able to project images (with autofocus) that are up to 120 inches with 720 HD resolution (200 lumens) and the cellular support and in-built battery ensure that one can screen movies seamlessly without any effort. The projector also has auto keystone capabilities (up to 720p) and packs in 16GB of storage.
The speakers on the ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector are decent; however, it is advisable one deploys alternatives for better sound projection.
Verizon's website does not list the portable projector for sale yet, but the product can be purchased from ZTE USA's store online.
