Gamers that have not yet gotten around to purchasing an Xbox One could have a pretty good deal on the way for the console with the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Xbox One bundle.
The Gears of War: Unlimited Edition Xbox One bundle, which will include the high-definition upgrade for the classic Xbox 360 game, is now available for pre-order, as announced at a panel during the San Diego Comic-Con by Microsoft and The Coalition.
The bundle will have a retail price of $349 and will be available through selected retailers, including the Microsoft Store and Amazon. The price is the same on as the price of only the 500GB Xbox One, without the free add-ons.
Included in the Gears of War: Unlimited Edition Xbox One bundle is a 500GB model of the Xbox One, a wireless controller, a digital download of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, early player access to the multiplayer beta of Gears of War 4, the Superstar Cole skin for multiplayer and a free 14-day trial for the Xbox Live gaming network.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was officially unveiled during the press conference of Microsoft at the annual E3. The title, which will also be released for the PC will be running in 4K resolution with DX12 support. The upgraded title will feature 19 maps for multiplayer and six different game modes, along with a total of five chapters for campaign mode that are not included in the earlier version of the game.
At the San Diego Comic-Con panel, Rod Fergusson, the co-creator of the game, confirmed that the Gears of War: Unlimited Edition Xbox One bundle will be launched in stores on Aug. 25, which is the same day for the launch of the new game.
Fergusson also got into a discussion on the Horde Mode, a popular mode which appeared in the sequels of the gaming franchise but will not be included in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. According to Fergusson, the main reason for holding out the game mode from the remastered version of the first game is that the developer did not want to turn the title into one that would closely resemble its sequels. In addition, there were not enough enemy types in the first Gears of War to make Horde Mode possible.
The release date for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on the PC has not yet been determined.
