The return of The X-Files for a six-episode miniseries is the TV show revival many viewers have been waiting for. It won't air until January, but Fox just put out a new promo video that should get you ready to search for the truth out there once more.
Fox released a new 40-second spot Tuesday that briefly shows the first footage of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully back together again. It's not much – just a few seconds of Mulder and Scully barging through a door, guns and flashlights in hand, to investigate a dark room – but we'll happily take what we can get at this point, since filming has barely begun.
The new promo was actually created to announced Fox's new "201 Days of The X-Files" promotion, which the network launched Tuesday. This new social media-driven promotion will encourage fans to watch every episode of the original series, one a day, before the mini-series premieres in January.
The original X-Files series debuted in September 1993 and ran for nine seasons on Fox. It also inspired two feature-length films that hit theaters in 1998 and 2008. The show earned 16 Emmys, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award during its run, not to mention that it went on to become a full-blown cultural phenomenon.
The new X-Files miniseries premieres January 24, 2016.
