Electric Supercars of Formula E Set To Appear In 'Forza Motorsport 6'

Formula E fans will be excited to hear that they too can experience what it's like to drive the all-electric supercars, if they own Forza Motorsport 6.

Each of the 10 Formula E teams will have one car featured in the game when it is eventually released on September 15.

"Formula E is a new FIA championship and the world's first fully-electric racing series," said Microsoft on the Forza Motorsport website. "It represents a vision for the future of the motor industry, serving as a framework for research and development around the electric vehicle, accelerating general interest in these cars and promoting sustainability."

While this is certainly the most comprehensive appearance of the new car series in a video game, it's not the first appearance. It's not even the first appearance of the series in Forza, with the Formula E's Renault Spark SRT_01E becoming available in Forza Motorsport 5 as a DLC. A decent mod was also created by WCP-Series for the online racing game rFactor.

Forza Motorport 6 is set to have a huge number of cars, with 117 of them having already been announced. If that's not enough, however, the developers of the game still have 333 cars left to announce. To get the full list, check back on the Forza website weekly, as new cars are set to be announced each week until the release of the game.

The news comes shortly after the developers announced that Jeremy Clarkson, the former host of Top Gear, will not be returning to do voice-over work for Forza, however, that will not be stopping his former co-hosts from making an appearance, with both Richard Hammond and James May confirmed to reappear in the series.

The news also comes shortly after Turn 10, the company developing the game, said that a big focus on the physics of the game would be on water and rain. Forza 6 itself will have a total of 148 different surface types, with each of them interacting differently with water. Depending on the surface, rain could be absorbed into the ground or pool onto the track, changing how a car will act.

To make things even more realistic, developers looked into where rain would even happen. An example of this is the fact that it very rarely rains in Dubai, so tracks in Dubai will not have rain on them. Users creating a custom race won't even have the option to have rain on the Dubai track.

Between the physics of the game and the cars being announced, Forza Motorsport 6 is certainly shaping up to be a great game.
