Attack on Titan is a pretty big deal in Japan. The original manga has spawned a number of spin-offs, a wildly popular anime series and an upcoming two-part live-action film that will even see a theatric release in the United States.
Now Attack on Titan is also responsible for extra long hot dogs, as reported by Entabe.
Aeon Cinemas in Japan will be selling the promotional item in order to get people excited for Part 1 of the live-action movie, to be released in Japan in August. The hot dogs come in two varieties: honey mustard and ketchup with relish. Both hot dogs come in a specially designed, extra-long Attack on Titan-themed box and also don't fit the hot dog bun, because designing a special bun would be way too much work.
As Kotaku points out, these extra long wieners are an interesting marketing choice considering the terrifying Titans of the series... ummm... don't actually have any. Seriously, they are like Ken dolls, which actually probably contributes substantially to their freaky look.
Each dog will set you back 550 yen (or about $4.48). For an extra-long hot dog, that's not too shabby.
But wait! Only the honey mustard Titan dog will be available in August. If you want the relish and ketchup dog, you'll have to wait until September, which will coincide with the release of Part 2 of the Attack on Titan movie.
Funimation will be bringing the Attack on Titan to the Americas this fall, with part one of the film debuting in Japan on August 1. If you haven't yet watched Attack on Titan, it's an action-packed anime perfect for newcomers and is definitely worth checking out.
