Naughty Dog's video game The Last Of Us was a hit for the studio, so it's likely we'll eventually get a sequel to the title, particularly with the end of the game leaving things open for Joel and Ellie.
Now, the question gamers want answered is this: when will we see that sequel, for, presumably, the PlayStation 4? The first game already saw a remastering for the new console, so how long will Naughty Dog make us wait for part two?
According to voice actor Nolan North, who had a small role in The Last of Us, the game development studio is working on The Last of Us 2 now.
"I know they're doing The Last of Us 2," said North at Metrocon.
Of course, those who've played the game also know that North's character won't return for a sequel. But with his status as a voice actor who works with Naughty Dog often (most notably as the voice of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted games), he would have some inside knowledge, right?
However, actor Troy Baker, who voice acted Joel in The Last of Us claims that he has no knowledge of a sequel to the successful title being planned anytime soon. At a panel during Indy PopCon, Baker contradicts what North said.
"I know nothing," said Baker at the panel. "I don't know if we're gonna do another one or not."
So which is it? Will there be a sequel to The Last of Us or not? Nothing about the title got a mention at this year's E3, but that doesn't mean that it isn't on Naughty Dog's radar. Last year, Neil Druckmann, the game's director, mentioned that it was a possibility.
"We have started brainstorming some stuff," said Druckmann to Game Informer when asked about a sequel to The Last of Us. "To be honest, some of them are sequel ideas, and some of them are brand new IP - we've spent the last few weeks brainstorming new IP."
If you asked gamers, though, they would want a sequel. The title wasn't just a critical success, but also became the biggest video game launch at the time of its release in 2013. In just three weeks after its release, it sold over 3.4 million units and became the fastest-selling PlayStation 3 game of all time.
Even seniors who played the title felt emotionally affected by the gameplay and story of The Last Of Us.
