There's no denying that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an absolutely massive game. Just the opening area (which also happens to be the smallest) dwarfs some entire games, and the fact that every piece of the map has tons of different quests, NPCs and collectibles strewn throughout makes what was already a huge game even bigger.
That said, the game's not without its oddities — and we're not just talking about Botchlings or Water Hags. While most of the game is grand and magnificent in scope, there are definitely more than a few sections that will have players scratching their heads — why is one of the most powerful beings in the kingdom out playing hide-and-seek with a bunch of orphans?
If you need more proof, look no further than the latest Honest Trailer. The folks over at Smosh Games are fans of the game, there's no doubt about that — but they're not afraid to point out some of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's weirder moments, either:
Look, there's nothing wrong with a bit of levity in a serious game, and not every side-quest is going to be amazing... but why do players have to walk around in circles, aimlessly following a goat for nearly 15 minutes just so some old man will move the story forward?
To be honest, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a game that's on a different level from most other titles out there. Few games have ever provided such tangible consequences for player choice, and the fact that the game is so emotionally powerful on such a regular basis will likely take some by surprise. Even so, why is one early mission centered around finding some old woman's frying pan? And that doesn't even cover the story, which can get so convoluted that you'll need an encyclopedia just to figure out what's going on...
At the very least, there's Gwent: a card game featuring cards based on the same people you're actually playing against — one that works like a watered-down version of Magic: The Gathering.
All jokes aside, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a fantastic game... even if it does have its fair share of weird moments.
