The Witcher 3 Patch 1.06 For PC And Patch 1.05 For Xbox One And PS4 Coming Next Week: What To Expect

CD Projekt Red has drawn its silver sword and is preparing to slay more of the bugs that have marred the highly regarded role playing game, the recently launched Witcher 3.

Hotfix 1.06 is expected to release on PC in the first part of this week, with patches for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game to arrive shortly after.

○ The patch fixes the endless loading screen when fighting the Ice Giant during the quest "Lord of Undvik"

○ Geralt's clothes will no longer be wet after leaving the menu.

○ The gate in the crypt now works correctly during the quest "Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear."

○ The patch fixes the lack of interaction with Roche on Oxenfurt Bridge in the quest "Get Junior."

○ The fix also resolves an issue that prevented players from creating more than one item via Crafting/Alchemy.

The console version of the patch, numbered version 1.05, features all of the above fixes along with patches for the save game issue and a money cap to deal with this sort of stuff.

Hotfix 1.05 for consoles comes hot on the heels of a massive update, Patch 1.04, that addressed over 80—yes, 80—problems with the Witcher 3. The patch is live now.

Despite pushing back the game's release date in order to squash all of the bugs (yet still having a post-launch infestation on its hand) and despite a notable downgrade in its graphics, the long-awaited followup to 2011's Witcher 2 has enjoyed stellar ratings and topped the NPD Group's list of May 2015's top video games.

Here's a list of the top 10 games for May 2015, according to the NPD Group:

○The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

○Mortal Kombat X

○Grand Theft Auto V

○Minecraft

○Splatoon

○Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

○NBA 2K15

○FIFA 15

○MLB 15: The Show

○Super Smash Bros.

Console software sales were up by about 8 percent in May 2015, despite what Liam Callahan, director of NPD's games industry analysis, described as figures that compare poorly to May 2014 releases.

"The decline in May 2015 is attributed to poor comparisons to a strong release slate in May 2014, specifically the launches of Mario Kart 8 and Watch Dogs," said Callahan. "Collectively, May 2015 launches sold 55 percent less dollars than May 2014 launches; however, catalog games outside of the launch month sold 3 percent more dollar volume compared to catalog games in May 2014."
