Bawdy songs of legendary duels will ring above the clamor of tankards, "ahhs," "oohs" and curses in the weekend showdowns. Patch 2.7 will bring Tavern Brawls to Blizzard's Heartstone and untested card players will need to keep on playing and practicing if they intend to join in on these high-level events.
Tavern Brawls, set to arrive in the middle of this month, will only be available to players who have unlocked a hero level of 20 or better, and for good reason.
"Each week, a different Tavern Brawl will pit you head to head versus another player using exciting and unique rules," says Blizzard. "One week might feature preset decks, while another week could have you crafting a brand new Tavern Brawl deck following specific guidelines, while others might offer buffs to specific minion types-who knows!"
Tavern patrons can brawl against complete strangers or they can call their friends away from the bar and out onto the floor, which we'd like to imagine is encircled by boisterous instigators -- "do you even lift bro?"
Tavern Brawls will start the weekend early, each week they run, but they won't go on for more than a few days at a time.
"Brawls get plenty rowdy, so the Innkeeper will definitely need a couple of days after each one ends to get the inn all tidied up before the next brawl begins," says Blizzard.
There is no cost to join in on Tavern Brawls and players who participate in them will be awarded free decks. However, for players who want to throw some cash at the free-to-play game, Patch 2.7 will also bring with it new heroes skins that will can be purchased for $10.
Along with the skins and the new competitive mode, Patch 2.7 also deepened customization of card backs and their collections. Players will have the ability to designate ornate backs to the each of their decks.
"The possibilities for fun inside Tavern Brawl are endless- the only thing you should expect is the unexpected," says Blizzard.
